We Moved (across the country)!
Updated: Feb 10, 2021
Once the pandemic hit early this year, my husband and I began to re-evaluate our life - our goals, both short term and long term, and really tried to figure out why we were where we were. We both were born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and had lived in California our whole lives! Now that we have a family of our own and are planning to soon grow our family and settle down, we realized that we were feeling stuck.
Of course we could have stayed in California for the rest of our lives, but if we did, what experiences would we be missing out on and depriving ourselves and our children from, so we decided to move!
We began looking at different states and we decided that Ohio would be a great place to spend this time of transition. After praying about it and talking to our families, we knew that this decision was right for us. Why Ohio? We get asked this so often! For one, we have close friends here, and we wanted to move somewhere that would be affordable on one income because I would not be able to keep my job once we moved out of state. Not only do we have friends here, but we have extended family living in many of our surrounding states! If we ever get a little homesick, a short road trip to see a familiar face would not be too difficult! Besides that - we just wanted some change, and this change has been so refreshing!
Over the next several months, I will share more details, but I will end with this:
We decided to sell all of our furniture, leaving us with clothes and smaller houseware items. We traded in our two cars for my dream car (a Chevy Suburban), packed up and hit the road! We traveled for 4 days, and it was honestly easier and less stressful than going away on a vacation via plane. We were able to check a cross country road trip off of our bucket list and were able to see some amazing sights along the way!
For some, 2020 has been a tough year, but for us, it has been a year of gaining perspective and strengthening our faith and trust!
